Spaceplan Update Project

To support a reorganisation initiative, Plus or Minus were tasked with supporting the internal Facilities Management team by producing up-to-date workstation location drawings for their office space, representing approximately 1.4 million sqft across 100 locations nationwide.

The project was carried out over an intensive four week period starting with site surveys to establish the integrity of supplied information & the creation of new/updated plans where appropriate. Internal & external photographic images were also collected during these visits to aid decision making by the FM team for environmental comparison.

Existing office space was loaded on to CAD to produce Accommodation Diagrams showing general arrangement of core, cellular & open plan workstation footprints - workstations were also numbered to help move sequencing & post survey project implementation.

All updated drawing information was then published to a secure client area on the Internet in to enable the Network Rail project team to view & download files as required.

Centre Of Excellence – Watford

Network Rail’s training facilities were separated across the country & based in buildings of varying quality, function & use. A project was created to bring together all of Network Rail's training requirements into Centres of Excellence, to create an efficient & focussed environment, reflecting the high importance of training for Network Rail staff in a stimulating, professional, quality environment.

The building identified for the first centre was a 14,000sqft office at Croxley Green, Watford. The centre needed to accommodate over 100 people a day being trained in diverse environments such as signal set simulators, model railways & computer based training.

Being a new facility, a comprehensive data collection exercise was carried out to determine the classroom capacity, quantity & room requirements. A report was compiled to draw this information together & illustrate the Centre’s proposed operating thresholds. Using this data, room settings were developed & a proposed accommodation model created to enable the sponsors to seek project approval before detailed planning was initiated.

The centre is now established & used as the benchmark for all future Network Rail training facilities.
